Important English Photographic Exhibition.

FINE PICTURES BY FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTISTS. Amateur photographers—and almost every second person oitc meets, coir.es under that category- nowadays, should by no means miss the opportunity of seeing the specimens of high-class English work, sent out to affiliated societies by the Royal Photographic Society- of Great Britain, for exhibition in the colonies. This week this fine cdlection of' upwards of fifty framed studies by some of the most eminent photographic men of the day, is on exhibition at the Auckland Society of Arts Gallery, C'o-burg-street, and after a season ihne goes down to Wanganui and thence to Wellington. The charge for admission in Auckland os the merely nominal one of sixpence, as the Real photoghap.i c society do not want to do more than merely pay expenses, and desire that all interested should have an opportunity of seeing work so highly educative. Some very fine sun pictures are shown, and it would be a difficult and perhaps delicate matter to particularise, but the beautiful sea studies by Mr F. Inston. F.R. P.S., will arouse much adm ration. - “Barges on the River Side,” byMr E. Marriage, F.R. P.S.. and Mr Bland’s, F.R. P.S., famous architectural studies are also deeply- interesting. The amateur who will not find something nay much, to give a new impetus to his hobby, must be a. dull dog indeed, and we wish the Exhibition a thorough success in Auckland and the South. On two evenings during the Au khmd season which opened on Monday, there will be an exhibition of lantern slideby crack workers of the Old Country. On these occasions (Wednesday and Friday) admissions will be one shilling.
