HC KW ZEALAND INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION,* 1900. MINER AES COURT, Mines Department. Wellington, 30th July, 1000. A Gohl Medal and Fifty Guineas, a Silver Medal ami Twenty live Guineas, and a Bronze Medal and Ten Guineas, will be awarded by the Mines Department for Essays on the present condition and future l>rospe< 1* of the mineral resources of New Zealand, and the host means of fostering their development. In judging the merits of the Essays, preference will be given to those which arc of a practical character. The Essays must be sent in to the Undersecretary for Mines, Wellington, signed with a Motto and accompanied l»y a sealed envelope containing the author's name and address, on or before Ist December, 19DG. The Essays will be submitted to a Board of three persons <to be hereafter appointed), on whose decision the above prizes will be awarded. W) Generally to carry on and transact every kind.of guarantee business and every kind of indemnity business and every kind of counter guarantee and counter indemnity business and generally every kind of insurance and reinsurance ' "business whether of .the like kind to any hereinbefore specified or of a different kind and whether now known or hereafter devised. (e) To acquire and undertake the whole or any part of the business, property and liabilities of any person or company carrying on any business which this Company is authorised to carry on or possessed of property suitable for the purposes of this Company./ (f) To promote any company or companies for the imrjwse of acquiring all or any of the property and liabilities of this Company or for any other purpose which may seem directly or indirectly calculated to benefit this v Company. <«) To sell or dispose of the undertaking of the Company or any part thereof for such consideration as the Company may think fit and in particular for shares, debentures or securities of any other Company having objects altogether or in part similar to those of this Company.
