At the Mount Eden Bowling Club's social last week a presentation was made to Mr. O. Nicholson, who- has been- president of- the club for niany years. The presentation took the form of a hand-, somely illuminated photographic shield; showing the whole of the club members (91).' In making the presentation Mr. Hl N. Garland referred in eulogistic terms to the vary valuable services rendered by Mr. Nicholson. The president’s health waa'then drunk with musical honours. Mr. Nicholson feelingly responded. On Sunday Mr and Mrs Samuel Jackson,’ of Orakei-road. Remuera. were ‘the recipients of sheaves of congratulations and large numbers of presents, in connection with the celebration of their golden wedding, their 'marriage having taken place on August 26, 1856, at Remuera. the officiating minister being the Rev. J. F. Mandcno, Mrs. Jackson’s’ father. Mr. Jackson a rirved from Yorkshire 51 years ago, and started practice here immediately as a solicitor, first in partnership with Mr. Merriman, and later with Mr. James Russell. Galbraith (Napier) has just paid a flying visit to Gisborne. Mrs. Preece, of Palmerston North, is spending some weeks in Napier. Miss C. MeLernon, of Napier, is on a holiday- to Christchurch. Miss M.
