Mrs Walter Penn gave a most ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON TEA last Wednesday in honour of Miss ’l'regear. who has been visiting New Plymouth, and is shortly returning to her home in Wellington. Those who were energetic enough for tennis kept the sets running very briskly, while others indulged in the ever popular game of bridge. A delicious afternoon tea was served in the dining-room. Mrs Penn received her guests in a heliotrope flowered muslin, the frills being finished with Valenciennes laee; Miss E. Penn, pale blue mus Fm. -white and black hat, etc. A EK HRE PARTY was held in the Theatre Koval last Thursday evening under the auspices of the Recreation Sports <hound Committee, at which the Mayor (Mr. R. Cock l took the opportunity of welcoming Messrs. Mynott and Aldmtt, the returned New Zealand footballers. After some two hours' play the tournament resulted: Euchre—Ladies' prizes. Miss Lena Bayly 1, Miss Bryd< n 2; gentlemen's prize. Mr. J. Howell; bridge—. Miss Brown 1, Mrs. Fitzlierbert. 2: Mr. Cooper winning the gentlemen's prize.
