Dear Bee. February 24. THE GARDEN PARTY in aid of the Recreation sports ground took place on Wednesday last, and was most successful, lacing attended by 2500 visitors. Notwithstanding the absence of His Excellency the Governor, who was unable to Is-. present owing to the steamer being bar-hound al Mauukau Ileails. the whole of the programme was carried out in the most en joyable manner. The poster and fancy dress display was most elaborate. There were also physical drill and fancy exercises by the volunteers, who mustered in a fairly strong force, and swimming sports in the lake; ' The programme was concluded by a euchre party held in a big marquee at night as a wind up to the festivities.
