Dear Bee, December 7. THE WANGANUI HORTK ULTURAL SOCIETY held a most successful two days’ show in the Drill Hall last week. The roses were excellent, far surpassing any that have been formerly shown in Wanganui. All the decorative classes were well supported, particularly the dining table, there being twenty-two entries. Amongst those I noticed in the hall were: Mrs Hatriek, in a smart black cloth Eton coat and skirt with facings of white stitched cloth, white vest, heliotrope and cream straw toque with heliotrope ribbons and spray of roses to match; Mrs Krull, brown cloth costume with cream lace vest, early Victorian bonnet to match with wreath of yellow cowslips in the front; Mrs Stanford, black voile skirt, mantle of silk with applique, black straw bonnet with apple green ribbons on it; Miss Stanford, white serge coat and skirt, eream straw hat with wreath of pale pink roses and foliage in it; Mrs Hole, pale grey tweed coat and skirt with deep basque, cream silk vest, navy blue straw hat with ribbons to match; Mrs Hawke, pale grey striped flannel coat and skirt, white silk bloiise; Miss Hardcastle, white muslin frock with insertion and lace; Mrs A. Lewis, navy blue Melton tailor made eoat anil skirt, white silk vest, black straw picture hat with black ostrich plumes; Mrs Moore, long brown flecked tweed coat and black skirt, blaek chiffon toque with feathers and jet ornament; Mrs G. Marshall, electric crepoliue with a white spot in it, gauged flounce on the skirt and yoke of white lace, black picture hat; Mrs Earle, black gauged voile costume with

deep yoke effect of champagne lace and cuff, of the same, floral toque of violets; Mrs Alexander, black voile with berthe of aeeordion-plented blaek chiffon and elbow sleeves with frill of the same, champagne chip straw hat with wreath of lilac and foliage; Mrs Izard, Holland skirt, white muslin blouse with insertion, line cream straw hat with green ribbons and shaded wreath of dahlias and leaves; Miss Alexander, black gauged voile costume with vest and revers of champagne lace and net embroidered in pale blue chiffon, pastel blue straw hat with heliotrope shaded roses in it; Mrs Blundell, blaek serge coat and skirt, pretty champagne coarse straw hat with ribbons and roses to match; Mrs W. Empson, dark grey Eton coat and skirt, white vest, blaek straw toque and feathers; Mrs McLean, navy blue cloth coat and skirt, black chiffon hat with wreath of pink flowers: Mrs J. G. Wilson. (Bulls) wore a smart navy blue silk gauged gown with old rose velvet on the bodiee edged with cream, black straw hat with ostrich feathers; Miss Wilson (Bulls), navy blue costume, coarse straw hat to match with cream crown; Miss N. Wilson (Bulls), navy blue coat and skirt, pale pink linen blouse, navy straw bat with shaded green and blue bird in it; Mrs Dalrymple (Bulls), black cloth- costume, bonnet of black straw with chiffon; Mrs Forde (Waitotara), bright navy blue Melton coat and skirt, white vest, navy blue straw hat with cornflowers; Mrs McNeill, navy blue and white striped flannel coat and skirt, navy blue straw hat with blue porn-pon; Mrs Corrie, black cloth coat and skirt, black chiffon hat and feathers; Mrs James Watt, cream serge costume, becoming heliotrope chip straw hat with chiffon and spray of heliotrope flowers; Mrs Fairburn, navy blue Melton coat and skirt, cream vest, navy straw hat with lieliotrope and pink roses; Miss Brabant, nary blue serge eoat and skirt, champagne straw hat with rose pink ribbon, rosette in the front: Mrs James Anderson, black cloth coat and skirt, with collar of cream laee. black chiffon, hat with sprays of lilac in it; Mrs A. E. Allison, navy blue gauged voile with champagne lace yoke, black chiffon toque with feathers; Mrs H. Y, Lethbridge (Wangaaehu), blaek serge coat and skirt, white vest, becoming black toque; Mrs W. D. Anderson, blaek gauged voile with champagne lace on the bodice, blaek and white toque; Mrs Babbage, fawn flecked tweed gown, blaek hat with wreath of flowers; Mrs F. Hatherly, black tailor-made coat and skirt. vTTiite silk vest, blaek hat with spray of blaek and white daisies in it; Mrs Norris, pale grey tweed coat and skirt, 4>la.ek hat with pink flowers;! Mrs A. E. Kitchen wore a very smart gown of pale grey voile profusely gauged and trimmed with laee, white feather stole, pretty pink and blue floral toque; Miss Willis wore a dainty white costume, becoming cream straw hat relieved with blue; Miss Krull wore a white muslin frock with laee and insertion ; Mrs McNaughton, navy blue coat and skirt, black gauged chiffon hat with heliotrope and green ribbon rosettes at the side; Miss Earle, navy blue hop sack eoat and skirt, pastel blue straw hat with ribbons to match; Mrs A. Atkins, black ■” skirt, long white serge eoat. black and white toque. There were also present—Mesdames Gregory. Kissling, Reaney, Innes, Briggs, Walt, Hope, Gibbons, Geenwood, Nixon, John Anderson, Misses G. Anderson, Harding (Wellington), W. Anderson, Brewer, Norris, Tnylor, McNeill, Gregory, Christie. Trainor, O’Brien, Owen, Addenbrooke, Mesdames Stewart, Harjeant and many others. On Saturday afternoon tea was given AT THE TENNIS COURTS by Mrs A. Izard and Miss G. Anderson.
