Dear Bee. September 30. The guest* of Miss Bedford's late assemblies gave her A RETURN DANCE in the Freemasons' [lull, last Wednesday evening, and it was most enjoyable. The principal promoters were Mis Penn, Misses .1. Fraser. E. Bayley. E. Hanna and Mr .1. Weir. Although the weather was squally the atmosphere was very keen for dancing. The supper, a basket aliair. was arranged prettily in the supper-room. Mr Weir, on behalf of Miss Bedford, expressed her sincere thanks. Kirk by, Preshaw, J lamia, Boote, George (2), Simpson (2), Gray. Fi slier, Scott. Last Th'ur-day afternoon Mrs Evans gave a MOST ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON TEA fo Mrs C. Burgess, who is leaving New Plymouth shortly with her husband for Auckland, -vyhere they intend to reside on account of the former’s health. Mrs Evans received her guests in the draav-ing-Toonr. while in\ the. dining-room a dainty tea was arranged. In the very wide and roomy hall Garry’s orchestra was stationed, and during intervals rendered exquisite music- During the afternoon vocal items were given by Airs Pope, Miss Take, and the Rev. Bradbury'. Airs Evans looked charming in a pale heliotrope and white figured silk, with lovely amethyst ornaments; A!i>s B.
