On Wednesday a golf match between the married and single members of the club took place AT SHIRLEY, and resulted in a win for the matrons by a large majority. Among the players were Mesdames Geo. G. Stead, Beals. Turret], (lampbell, Kettle. Wood, and Loughnan. Alisses Rutherford. Moore, Kitson. Denniston, Kettle. Humphries, and Inman. Next week the last medal match of the season will be played, and there will also be a match between the Hagley and Shirley Chibs at Shirley. Miss Denniston and Aliss Campbell have been taking part in the open championship meeting at Palmerston North, where Miss Campbell, who already holds both our local championships, has also won the championship there. Aliss Harley ami Miss Symes have returned to Christchurch. ami Miss Craeroft Wilson has extended her trip as far as Auckland. Aliss Graham entertained some of her friends at the Commercial Hotel, Ashburton, where she is at present staying, ' AT A LADIES’ BRIDGE; PARTY*, which was a great success. A CHILDREN’S PARTY was given on Tuesday evening by Mrs Denniston in honour of tlie birthday of her youngest son. A delightful time was spent by the little folk, in playing blind man's buff, family coach, musical chairs, etc. Dainty refreshments were served at intervals. A few of those present were the Misses Denniston, Prins, Wilding, Humphreys, Wood, Loughnan, Reeve, and Anderson. Messrs. Williams, Prins, Cook, Nanearrow, Stewart. Macdonald, Reece, Merlon, and Gould. COMING EVENTS. Invitations were issued last week by Mr and Mrs T. Hay to their friends to be present at their daughter’s marriage to Mr Arnst M’Kellar (Opawa). The wedding is to take place at Pigeon Bay on September 27th. The daffodil and spring flower show, which will be held in the Art Gallery on the 27th of this month, promises to be an exceptionally good one, so luxurious lias been the wealth of bloom this season. Mrs G. G. Stead and Miss Helen Gibson have been appointed judges in tha decorative classes, and Messrs. Carey, Hill and Revell in the general. Table decorations will form an important feature of the show. Mr and Mrs Duncan Cameron (Methven) have issued invitations to tbeir friends to the marriage of their daughter on the 3rd of October to Mr Sandys (England). The wedding is to take' place at Springfield, and a special train will convey the guests from Christchurch.
