WESTPORT.
Dear Bee, August 21. Bombardier Overton was entertained by the ‘*l” Battery at McMaster’s Hall last Monday night, and presented with a framed photograph of (hr corps. Driver Phelan, who is leaving Westport, was presented with a whip. On Thursday afternoon the Ladies* Hockey Club played a match against the gentlemen in fancy costume. The game* throughout was very amusing — some of the gentlemen appearing rather awkward in skirts. It ended in a <ha\v. both sides having secured two goals. The ladies intend touring ihe coast in about a fortnight's time*. A very enjoyable dance was given by I he members of the Westport b'oot hall ( lub on Thursday owning to entertain the Hokitika Club, which is visiting Westport. The supper tables wore prettily decorated with the colours

On Saturday afternoon a match was plaseil iii \h-l*ad»h-n*s Paddock between Westport and Hokitika Football Clubs. There was a large attendance of lovers of the game: the result was a win for Hokitika *J> Io nil.
