Dear l'.< e, 2 - A small committee of Rotorua ladies and gentlemen arranged a most suecesp fill masquerade ball in the Assembly Dall on Friday, the 21st. The hall and supper-room were decorated for the occasion, and (he stage was eoinfortably furnished with easy chairs, etc., for chaperones and others who did not feel inclined to dance. The costumes worn were exceptionally pretty.and effective, and it wouid be hard to say which was the best, unless, as many seemed inelin eel ter do, e,ne gave- the palm to Miss Constant, who as Phyllis (" lolantlie”) looked eharming. Before the' mase]ueraelers unmasked it was very difficult in me>st instances to penetrate their disguises, r.s all seemed to have- made it their business tee remain incog, if possible.
