McLeod has returned to his command of the Northern S.S. Company’s Terranora, after doing three months’ relieving duty. Mr D. Woods, of the A.F.C.W., was the recipient of a handsome present last week on the occasion of his departure for the Thames. Sergeant Bernard Greene, clerk of the Onehunga Court, and also for some years in charge of the police station, is at present very ill. The French Consul, M. R. Boeufve, went to Wellington last week in order to be present at the opening of the New Zealand Parliament. Mr George Griffiths, who has been a member of the Paeroa post office staff for some years, has been transferred to Waihi. The Rev. W. G. Monekton, M.A., eurate of St. Peter’s Church, Takapuna, is gazetted an officiating minister under the Marriage Aet. Miss Birney Stevenson, of Wellington, who went Home with Miss Grace Allen, of Picton. will probably return to New Zealand early next year. At Westport-last week a banquet was held to bid farewell to Mr. G. E. Richardson and to welcome Mr. E. Gillon, his successor. Miss M.
