On Wednesday a few of the golfers met at the links to have a farewell game with Miss Ceeil Willis (second 1 daughter of Archdeacon .Willis) who left the following day for Gisborne, where she is going to reside for the present. Amongst those on the links were Mrs Matheson, Mrs C. Hunter. Miss Willis. Miss C. Willis. Miss K. Willis, Miss Wells, Miss H. Wells, Miss Skeet, Miss Wooleote, Miss Cave, Miss G. Cave, Miss N. Young, Miss Brooks, the president (Mr W. I’’. Buckland), and Messrs Dixon, Richardson, Walker, Roberts and Crawford. The opening foursome was played by Miss C. Willis and the president, against Mrs Matheson and Mr V. Dixon, it was a very close game, the former pair being the winners. Afternoon tea was provided by the lady members of the elub. On account of Saturday being the opening day of the Hunt Club, the formal opening of the golf is postponed until Saturday, the 13th., when a large gathering is anticipated if the weather is favourable.
