NEW PLYMOUTH.

Dear Bee, April 2!). Last 'Wednesday afternoon and Thursday evening the New Plymouth people had the privilege of hearing two organ recitals given by Mr Maughan Barnett, of Wellington, at St. Mary’s Church, on the new organ just completed, which is perhaps the finest of its kind in the North Island. It goes without saying that never before had that large congregation, which assembled in the church, had the opportunity of hearing the music of the "king of instruments” interpreted by a more masterful hand. Perhaps the gems of the two performances were “The Pilgrim’s March’’ (Mendelssohn), “Angels of Jesus” (Spinney), Lemare’s “Andantino” (repeated by request on the second n’ght), Handel’s “Minuet in G Sieiliana and Finale,” a fugue by Bach, and Wely’s “Fant’aisie Pastorale.’’ The collections from the two recitals totalled X 23.
