MASTERTON.
Dear B<-e. April 10. We have bad quite a delightful visit from the Williamson Opera Co. this
week, who put on our old friends ‘'Pirates" and “Mikado." Both operas were warmly mekouad by full houses, an<l brought back pleasant memories of years ago when they came to us fresh from the fertile brains of the authors. I noticed amongst the large audience— Mrs. Donald DuualJ, Mrs. Rawson, Mr*. Vivian Donald. Mrs. Andrews, Mrs. ft 11. Rathbone, Mrs. Stewart Campbell, Mrs. Cruickshaiik. Mrs. Feudal!, Mrs. Henry Wood. Mrs. Taite Tau, and Mrs. Walters, and Miss Tnl-y (of Carterton >.
Our Ladies' Musical Club met the other day and decided to put into rehearsal "The Japanese Girl,” commencing work on Wednesday next. Everybody was pleased to welcome back our former conductor, the Rev. Wyndiiam Enree. who has been absent in the Old Country.
Saturday last was our opening day for the golfing season, and. although the weather wa* not too kindly disposed, a fair number found their way up to the links at Lansdowne. Mrs. James provided afternoon tea, which was gratefully partaken of by all present, the air' being so keen. The following were present :—Mesdanu** James, Norman Beetham. Vivian Donald, Rathbone. Lawrence. Cruickshaak. and Misses Holmes, Robieson <2:. and Nicholls, Major Donald, Messrs. James. Norman Beetham, Vivian and Harley Donald, Rathbone. Burns. Lawrence, Cox. Sellar, and Robieson. The links are in good order, and are in a splendid position, the view from the heights being excellent.
I am pleased to learn that Mrs. Fred. Mannsell. who Fas been suffering from throat affection, is slowly recovering.
ALICIA.
