Dear Bee, March 24. Saturday, 18th inst., proved *a perfect day, and the long-talked-of GARDEN PARTY given by Mrs Wood and Miss Fraser, of the Girls’ College, was an unqualified success. The picturesque grounds were iu perfect order—green lawns and the borders bright with the blaze of numerous flowers. In the far end of the Campbell-street lawn the T.Y.M.I. baud discoursed sweet music, and under a spreading willow tree tables were laden with all manner of dainty eatables. Both tennis and croquet were played during the afternoon by the numerous guests. The college grounds proved an ideal place for a garden party. Mrs Wood received her guests in a handsome black voile costume with cream chiffon vest and applique collar, black hat with chiffon and ostrich feathers; Miss Fraser wore a rich pale grey velvet gown with yoke of cream lace and bertha of chiffon, full sleeves of velvet with frill of chiffon, and deep lace cuffs, pale grey hat with plumes. Amongst, the numerous guests I noticed Mrs Etnpson, in a black voile gown, revers of blaek silk, the cream silk was veiled with exquisite Maltese lace, vest of soft white silk, black beaver hat with jet ornaments and black feathers; Mrs Orford wore a dainty white silk frock, trimmed with insert ion and lace, hat to match; Miss Mnbng, cream serge skirt, tucked cream silk blouse with lace, pretty cream fancy straw hat with deep circular band of black velvet; Miss Moore wore a white nun’s veiling, banded with cream ailk insertion, and the bodice smocked with cream silk, becoming burnt straw hat with wreath of forget-me-nots and green foliage; Mrs R. Jackson, black merveillenx trained gown, full undersleeves and vest of soft white silk ( long white ostrich feather boa, black picture hat with chiffon and feathers; Mrs Dodgsliun, heliotrope French muslin, banded with insertion, angel sleeves, edged with lace, deep frill falling from yoke, threaded with heliotrope satin rib-
bon, black hat with chiffon and feathers; Mrs Blundell, black muslin with embroidered white spot over white silk, full gauged frill on the skirt, headed with black lace insertion, deep yoke of cream gauged chiffon and black medallion insertion, edged with blaek sun-ray-pleated chiffon frill, smart high-crowned hat with blaek chiffon and ostrich tips; Mrs Krull wore a handsome black figured muslin gown over black silk, lace collar and vest of chiffon, becoming Victorian bonnet of black straw and chiffon and white osprey, wreath of yellow primroses under the brim; Miss Wright (Christchurch), champagne flecked linen frock, skirt made with narrow frills at the foot, deep yoke of lace, edged with insertion, black velvet sash and belt, black chiffon hat with feathers; Mrs Reid, white pique coat and skirt, cream French sailor with pale green ribbons in it ; Mrs Reaney, black crepe de chine sunray-pleated skirt, white tucked silk blouse with insertion, burnt straw hat with ruche of turquoise blue silk ribbon; Mrs H. Sarjeant wore a white muslin with medallions of champagne lace, on the bodice was draped a lovely fichu of Maltese lace, black high-crowned beaver hat with ruche of black chiffon above the crown and wide circular band of blaek velvet; Mrs 8. T. Fitzherbert wore a very becoming frock of cham-pagne-coloured voile over pale pink silk, wide band of exquisite lace on the skirt, and bodice trimmed with lace and deep tucks, black sequin toque with wreath of pink roses and foliage; Miss M. Liffiton wore a gauged white silk frock with lace and insertion, mushroom hat with ruche of shaded crimson ribbon; Mrs Morrison (Wairarapa). black voile gown, banded with black silk embroidery, feather stole, and smart highcrowned hat With velvet and ostrich tips; Mrs Calder (Nelson), black canvas costume with silk, blaek chiffon toque; Miss AVitchell wore a dainty white muslin with bands of insertion, wide folded belt of lilac silk, fancy straw hat with lilac chiffon strings and flowers; Mrs Pattie Izett, pale grey crepe de chine, skirt made with frills and gauged chiffon on bodice, with vest and collar of same material, becoming toque of old rose velvet with champagne lace and flowers on brini; Miss Cameron, green cloth tailor-made coat and skirt, smart hat to match with primroses and green silk; Mrs W. D. Anderson, black voile gown, vest of cream, collar and revers of cream satin and black lace, black straw hat with feathers and osprey; Miss Cameron (England), tabac shaded voile with champagne lace, brown mushroom hat with shaded pink ribbons in it; Mrs Corrie wore a bright navy blue voilo gauged and relieved with champagne ■lace, fancy straw hat with sprays of cornflowers; Mrs W. Aiken, champagne canvas voile costume, wide collar and vest of lace and net, black chiffon hat with ostrich feathers; Miss Page, cream tucked silk frock with insertion, cream straw hat with shaded scarf; Mrs Notman, wore a handsome brown costume profusely trimmed with cream silk embroidered applique, brown hat relieved with tangerine; Mrs Dr. Christie, electric blue tussore silk, the trained skirt was made with numerous gaugings, bodice gauged and berthe of laee, blue straw hat in mushroom shade, with deep pink shaded wreath of roses and foliage; Miss Bayley (New Plymouth), white muslin frock with tucks and insertion, deep berthe of lace, pretty black ■hat with feathers; Mrs Holdship, cream serge coat and skirt, black straw hat with ruche of black and white chiffon; Miss Holdship (Sydney), pale grey tweed with belt of salmon pink, and strappings of the same shade on bodice, white felt hat with black velvet and large white bird in it; Miss Jardine, black voile tucked skirt with gauged frill, pale blue silk blouse, yoke of champagne lace, black straw hat with chiffon scarf; Mrs Poulson (Mangamahu), black sun-ray pleated crepe de chine skirt, silk mantle with lace, becoming
black bonnet; Miss McNeill, Japanese white silk frock, yoke and bands ol champagne insertion, Dolly Varden hat with heliotrope ruch and white silk strings; Mrs James Watt wore a soft white silk, the skirt was edged at the foot witlr frill of lace, white ostrich feather boa, black chiffon toque with ostrich tips; Miss Krull wore a beautiful gown of pale grey voile, folded fichu edged with white gauged chiffon, Early Victorian bonnet of white gauged chiffon and sprays of violets under the brim, white satin ribbon rosettes at the back, and strings of white chiffon; Miss Christie wore a white muslin with embroidered spot, the yoke was of Valenciennes insertion, deep band of the same insertion outlined with lace, forming a cape effect round the shoulders, full skirt with train, tucked and banded with lace; she wore a becoming Early. Victorian bonnet of fancy white straw with bunches of roses and foliage under the deep upturned brim, and long white silk strings tied under the chin; Miss O’Brien, navy blue voile frock profusely gauged and trimmed with champagne ■lace, fancy straw hat with blue flowers; Miss Brabant wore a smart cream canvas gown with deep yoke effect of yak lace, swathed belt of cream silk, cream straw hat with heliotrope and pink flowers and ribbon, shaded pink silk parasol; Mrs Geo. Humphreys, cream nun's veiling trained skirt with wide gauged frill at the foot and bebe satin ribbon, cream eoat faced with white silk. American brown straw sailor with band of brown ribbon, and ruche above the brim, shaded fawn and brown quills;; Mrs Gifford Marshall wore a dainty electric blue erepoline with small white spot on it, vest of cream, and revers veiled in coarse white lace, and lovely old lace scarf forming a fichu round the bodlee, black picture hat with feathers; Miss Baker, white muslin over, heliotrope silk underskirt, the skirt; was banded with insertion and fichu of lace, smart French sailor in the new shade of warm mauve, the trimmings harmonizing in tone with the straw: Miss Earle, white embroidered muslin, inserted with squares of Valenciennes laee, bodice jraade with deep belt of shaded rose silk, fiehu of lace and muslin skirt, edged with wide flounce of lace, black straw hat with crown o' cream lace, and black ostrich plumes; Mrs. Fairburn, navy blue voile, the trained skirt was made with numerous gaugings, vest of cream net, and revers of blue tucked chiffon, and reseda green velvet, fichu of champagne lace, blua straw hat, with wreath of pink and pala heliotrope roses and foliage; Miss McLean (Napier) wore a dainty eream silk frock, hat to match; Miss Rawson, white, tucked silk gown with insertion and lace, burnt straw hat with bunch of shaded violets; Miss M. Jackson, creanr serge, skirt, silk blouse to match, with bands of insertion, pretty navy blua straw hat of mushroom shape with deep petunia shaded roses and foliage; Mrs. J. C. Greenwood, cream flannel coat and skirt, with narrow pin stripe of brown, vest of lace, toque of violet shaded velvet, with white fur, long white osprey, and spray of violets; Mrs..Hughes-John-ston wore a cream serge costume made with a sailor collar, banded with pala blue silk, and strapping of same on ravers and wide full cuffs, black hat with' chiffon and feathers; Mrs. Rowley, black brocade with lac,e, black and White straw, 'hat with ostrich feathers; Miss Dodgshun, pale green crash coat and skirt flecked with white and banded with' champagne insertion, cream straw hat with chiffon strings and feathers; Mrs. Ha trick, wore a smart black silk muslin gown with numerous gaugings on the trained skirt, vest and revers of exquisite lace, becoming black hat with' brim of straw tra nspaen a mbmbmmb brim of transparent black lace, and black ostrich plumes; Mrs. A. E. Allison wore a navy blue voi,le with gauged flounce, wide blue silk foldede belt, and champange lace on bodice, smart highcrowned black chenille hat, with feathers ;i Mrs. Christie, pale grey crepe de chine.

Lewis wore a handsome gown of pale grey voile over grey silk, with exquisite lace on bodice, black and white hat; Mrs Bridgewater, cream costume with insertion, cream fancy straw hat with chiffon, and relieved with pale blue; Mrs. Jackson, blaek silk costume, black mantle with applique, black and white Victorian bonnet; Mrs. J. T. Stewart, pale grey brocade with heliotrope flowers on it and lace, black and white toque, relieved with heliotrope spray of flowers; Miss Montgomerie, pale blue voile, the trained skirt was gauged, fichu of cream net and lace, black and white hat; Miss Barnicoat, pale blue nun's veiling, profusely trimmed with champagne embroidery, cream straw hat with shaded blue flowers.
