Dear Bee, March 14. AT HOME. Miss Nellie Metcalfe, who left Auckland last Monday for a trip to England on a visit to her relatives, gave a very enjoyable “At Home” at the Piccadilly tea rooms on Friday afternoon. The time was spent most pleasantly with the usual chat, over the tea cups, the young hostess quite excelling herself iu her efforts to keep her guests amused, and the Piccadilly provided amply for the varied tastes of some 50 or 60 visitors in really exquisite and artistic style. Some of those present- were: Mrs. Metcalfe, who wore a black silk gpwa, with jetted laee yoke over white, black toque, with jet and plumes; our hostess looked sweet in a pale grey voile, "with white vest, and large black picture hat ; Miss Marion Metcalfe was in a becoming cameo pink voile frock, and large black hat with chiffon-strings; Mrs. Hudson Williamson was gowned in pale grey floral muslin, trimmed with black lace, black hat swathed with ehine silk; Mrs. Percy Dufaur, black gown,, relieved with white, black plumed toque; Mrs. Bosworth, white and blue spotted silk blouse, black skirt, r.nd white hat with clusters of pink roses; Mrs. H. Walker, navy blue toile gown and black hat: Mrs. Arthur Metealfe (Okato) wore a crash costume, and burnt straw hat with black siik rosettes; Miss Kent, white silk frock, and large black picture hat; Miss Cooper, white hailstone muslin gown, blue sash, and white hat with black velvet band; Miss Hudsou-Willir on, graceful white muslin gown, white a . with blue ruehing; Miss Mattie Walker, white linen coat and skirt, Tuscan hat trimmed with blue and cream ribbon; Mrs. Peter Moir, cream voile with navy spots and pipings, eream hat with lace and autumn leaves; Miss Haven, white frock, and cream Satin straw hat; Miss Ziman. white siik frock, and pale green hat wreathed witii violets; Miss Lewis (Devonpcri) looked pretty in white linen, and white hat ■with pink silk ruching; Mrs. T. Butler was in white muslin with blue ribbons, and white and blue hat; Miss L. Phillips wore a smart biscuit-coloured muslin over green silk and becoming Tuscan hat with cherries; Miss Stevenson, white muslin frock and pale green hat; Miss N. Stevenson, navy voile, trimmed with ecru insertion, and blaek hat; Miss F. A MOST ENJOYABLE LITTLE DANCE was given by Mr. and Mrs. Gorrie at their residence, "Dunkerron,” Three Kings, on Thursday last, on the eve oi their eldest daughter, Miss Blanche Gorric’s marriage to Mr. Borthwick, of Christchurch. The weather was perfect, though a little warm, perhaps, for dancing. Still, with such beautiful grounds to wander about in, the discomfort of this was reduced to a minimum. Burke’s baud played delightful music, end a most delicious supper was served in a large marquee,, the decorations of which I really must mention, as they were so very pretty. Mr. Gorrie's racing colours, green and gold, were chosen for the table centre, and the floral decorations were white, with a peal of white wedding bells suspended over the table, while pink shaded lamps threw n moat becoming glow over everybody and everything. Mr. and Mrs. Gorrie, with their daughters, were indefatigable in looking after their guests, and altogether it was quite one of the most delightful email dances I have been to for some time. Amongst the gnests were: Mrs. Duthic, Mrs. George Bloomfield, Misses Buckland (2). Cotter (2), Towle, Tolhurst (Wellington), George, Richmond (2), Morrow, Gorrie (2), Baker, Lloyd. Mowbray, Douglas, Lewis, Messrs. Reid, Horton, Borthwick, Blair, George, Alison (2), Thompson. Burns, McCormick. Hay, Gordon, Bruce, Dr. Chatfield, Aitken, Bloomfield, Gorrie, Upton, Buddle, Shorn, Irvine, and Bruce. Last Friday afternoon Mrs. T. Davis, Ponsonby, entertained a number of ladies at AN ENJOYABLE LUNCHEON and afternoon tea in compliment to Miss Kronfeldt, who is shortly to be married. Mrs. Davis wore a becoming white embroidered silk blouse and black canvas voilo skirt; the guest of honour was at tired in a pretty green costume; Miss Raphael (Christchurch) looked remark ably well in a dainty white embroidered muslin skirt and white silk blouse; Miss Possetiniskie wore a blue gown; Mrs. Claude Moses, white embroidered muslin; Mrs. Dickey, black and white costume; Miss L. Lewis, bis cult coloured grass lawn over glace silk; Afiss Kronfeldt will be entertained at a “Kitchen Afternoon” by Alias Possen nlskie, and at a "Handkerchief Afternoon” by Mrs. Fred. Ballin during the week.
