PALMERSTON NORTH.
Dear Bee, January 27. The final match for the Ladies’ Championship Singles was played ON THE CROQUET LAWNS on Saturday afternoon, in the presence of several interested spectators. Opinion was divided as to which of the ladies—Mrs Tripe and Miss Nannestad —would prove the winner. The first game seemed a certainty for Miss Nannestad, but by perfect play Mrs Tripe eventually won. The second game Mrs Tripe played faultlessly, and never gave her opponent a chance, and so won the championship again. Mrs Tripe has never been beaten for the championship of this club. She was the recipient of a handsome silver button-hook, shoe horn and silver-mounted comb, presented by Mrs J. P. Innes.
