BOWLING.

The opening of the Carlton Club’s green took place on Saturday under very favourable circumstances. The clubhouse and grounds were very nicely decorated. There was a large attendance of friends and supporters of the club. The president, Mr T. Cuttie, performed the opening ceremony by throwing the “jack” across the green. All the rinks were occupied by players during the afternoon. Music was supplied by Meredith’s band, and afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies’ committee.

The Mount Edon Bowling Chib’s green Iwas formally declared open on Saturday afternoon by the president, Mr O. Nicholson. Mrs Nicholson, wife of the president, then threw the jack across the green. Trial games were then proceeded with, all the rinks being occupied. Afternoon tea was supplied by Mrs Nicholson. The ground was decorated with bunting and greenery, and presented a very animated appearance.

The Onehnnga Bowling Club opened Its Beason on Saturday afternoon, when there was a large attendance.
