The nwmbers of the amateur boxing team from New South Wales and Queensland. who have been competing in the Australasian competition, held at Clirist<*hurch. return*'*! homewards by lhe Moeraki. Members of the team speak in high terms of the hospitality shown them in this colony, and of tlie conduct of the contests. T. R. Ellison, a well-known ex-foot-baller and athlete, died on Saturday. Mr Ellison, who was n solicitor, took an active part in colonial football. lie was a member <;f the native team which toured England in 1889. The team also played matches in Australia. Mr Ellison again visit* d Australia with the ]893 team, of which he was elected captain. He represented Wellington from about LSSS fill 1893, when ho retired from the game. He had since been *i niemlMu- of the selection commit tee of the Wellington rep. teams, and in one of these years he was appointed the sole selector. Mr Ellison also took a keen interest in golf.
