LACROSSE.
MATCHES AT AUCKLAND. Ponsonby v. Grafton was a hart! fought game right through, Grafton starting off with a rattle. Grafton scored first. Glimmer with a beauty, getting past Sachs. After changing ends Ponsonby *s attack made things warm. The score at half-time was: Ponsonby, 2 to 1. Grafton equalised from a rush* upon resuming, and just on call of time Hill got loose and came sailing down unchecked. Sachs luckily stopping the shot with his body. Suburbs and Shamrock had a great go—a ding - dong game right through. Both goalkeepers did a lot or hard work, saving their s des repeatedly. Up to half-time no damage was done, but Av i Ison eventually got homo on the one side and Leslie on the oth?r. The defence work with both teams was close and hard. Although everyone did their hardest, neither side could manage the winning point.
