AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES CONTINUED. The last series of the senior championmatches were commenced on Saturday. The weather was flue i>nd the wickets fast, but the batting was very poor. Most of the interest was attached to the Clty-Eden match, as n win for City would put Eden out of the running, provided that Parnell won their match at Dovonport. Eden scored 135, and got rid of five City men for only 16 runs, so that they are in the better position. Giafton got rid of Ponsonby for 53, and reached that score for the loss of five wickets. At Devonport Parnell scored 173, and North Shore lost two wickets for eight.
SECOND GRADE, Parnell and Grafton commenced the playoff for the second grade championship. Parnell won the toss and spent all the afternoon in making 122, the batting being cautious.
