Dear Bee, April 8. THE COLLEGIATE SCHOOL SPORTS held on the College Grounds on Easter Monday, were very successful; the various events being most interesting, and the day perfect for both onlookers and competitors. Parents and friends of the numerous boys came from all parts of the colony, and two four-horse brakes full of boys from Mr Mather's School in Marton drove in to witness the events. Amongst the large crowd of onlookers I noticed Mrs Watson, in a black costume and Oriental applique mantle, black bonnet with heliotrope feather; Mrs E. Atkinson, navy blue tucked voile with lace vest and deep cream collar, blaek hat with chiffon and feathers; Mrs Godwin wore a block coat and skirt, bonnet to match; Mrs

On Monday evening a very large audience assembled at the Collegiate School, when the prizes won during the day were presented by Mrs Logan, of Hawke’s Bay. Amongst the very large audience 1 noticed Mesdames Atkinson. A. .Shcrriff, Godwin. E. Riddiford (Hutt), Foster Pratt (Palmerston North), D. Riddiford (Rangitikei). F. Riddiford (Palm-rston). Kettle (Napier), Hawkins (England), Beard (Masterton), G. ■Potts (Manawatu). Sarjeant, Blundell, Anderson, Skerman (Murton), Mason (Hawke's Bay), Hole, Hawke, Misses Moore, Mason, Page, Fullerton-Smith (Marion). Barnieoat, Mason (Hawke's Bay). Maling, Ailken, Brabant, E. Mating (Christchurch), Dodgshun, Anderson, and many ot hers. AN EXCITING FOOTBALL MATCH between the college boys, past a..d present, was played on the Collegiate School grounds on Tuesday morning, resulting in a win for the old boys by one point. On Friday evening A MOST ENJOYABLE DANCE was given by the Wanganui ladies to Mrs and the Misses McDonnell, on the eve of their departure for Wellington. The energetic committee were the Misses Barnieoat. Anderson and Dodgshun, who were ably assisted by the Misses Brewer, Anderson and R. Jones. The supper table" was most artistically decorated with white cosmea, crimson dahlias and trails of autumn shaded Virginian creeper, (he centre being a large basket filled with flowers, and on either side were silver candelabra, the end of the ball-room was converted into a cosy drawing-room with rugs and numerous easy chairs. Excellent musie was provided by Airs Lockett and Mr Gilbey (piano and violin). The floor was in splendid order, if anything a trifle too slippery. At the conclusion of the last dance “Auld Lang Syne" was sung, and an adjournment was made to the supper room, where our guests’ health were drunk, accompanied with musical honours. Mrs McDonnell was gowned in □ rich black silk trimmed with lace and spray of blue flowers; Miss McDonnell wore a white satin frock, the corsage being veiled in gauged chiffon, headed with a band of silver sequins, forming a deep frill at the waist; Miss H. Amongst those present were—Mesdames Eyre-Kenny, Krull, ■Moore, Fitzhbrbert, Inglis (Pahiatua), Mason, Blundell, Chririie. Fairburn, Kiissling, Atkins, Alexander, Watson. Collins, Grieg, Hawke, Alisses Taylor, Faulknor (England), Richmond (Nelson). Alexander, Afesdames Sarjeant and Watt. On the same afternoon the Alisses McDonnell gave a FAREWELL TEA TO MISS ETHEL CHRISTIE, who is to be married at the end of the month, aud goes to live in Christchurch. Amongst those present were the Misses McDonnell (2), Anderson (2), Page, Aloore, Christie, Barnieoat, Dodgshun, Rawson and others., ,

On Thursday afternoon Mrs Collins gave an “AT HOME” at the Aramoho Tea Gardens to say good-bye to her friends before leaving next week with her daughter for a trip to England. Unfortunately the weather was cold and wintry with showers of rain, and the guests were unable to walk about the picturesque grounds. Afternoon tea was served in the pavilion, and during the afternoon songs and pianoforte pieces were much appreciated. Mrs Collins received her guests in a black voile eostiune with laee relieved with heliotrope, black and white bonnet; Miss Collins wore a pale blue canvas gown trimmed with champagne insertion. Amongst the guests were Mesdames Wood. Sarjeant, Blundell, Fitzherbert, Maclean. Mackay. Fairburn. Baker (Fordell), Hewett, C. Powell, Forlong, Heywood, Haynes, Stewart, Bond, Dodgshun. Lennard, Cummins, Bolton, Lock. Lundins. Izett, Misses Alexander, Faulknor (England), Stewart, Fraser, Cummins. On Thursday afternoon the Misses Anderson gave A “HANDKERCHIEF TEA” for Miss Ethel Christie. Each guest brought a handkerchief, and by the end of the afternoon there was quite a large pile—some beautiful laee ones, dainty linen, and several very quaint ones. Amongst those present were the Misses Anderson (2), McDonnell, Brewer, .Rawson, Christie, Barnicoat, Dogshun. Richmond (Nelson), Baker, Jones, Aitken, Gould (Auckland), Mesdames Anderson, Kisslimr.
