Tho Melbourne cable giving tho result of the yacht race between the Auck-land-built La Carabine and the Bona, sailed on Saturday week was incorrectly worded, tho result of the race being reversed. The Sydney ‘'Morning Herald’’ has the following account of the race: A contest which created considerable interest. in yachting circles took place in Hobson’s Bay on Saturday afternoon between tho new cruising schooner yachts Bona and La Carabine. The trial fell short of expectations, the Bona showing such superior sailing qualities that the result became a foregone conclusion at a very early stage of the proceedings. The course selected covered about 20 miles. Allowing for two minutes’ advantage which she gained at the start, La Carabine did not round tho buoy until 26 minutes after her competitor. The Bona continuing to increase her advantage crossed the starting line at 13 minutes to six o’clock, at which time La Carabine was about six miles in the rear. The winner was sailed by her owner, Mr. C. D. Wallace, and La Carabine by Mr- Ernest Clarke, brother of Sis Rupert Clarke.
