WELLINGTON.

Dear Bee, November 26 The arrival of Miss Ada Crossley and her talented company to-day caused a little stir in the musical world. Th:first concert takes place to-night, and there is not a seat left, so the great contralto is to have another splendid reception. Aiiss Crossley was formally welcomed at the Council Chandlers, and there was a large gathering of ladies and gentlemen to receive her. From an interview with Aiiss Crossley, she appears to be thoroughly enjoying her New Zealand tour, and is pleased with the appreciative audiences she is singing to. Musgrove’s “A .Midsummer Night’s Dream” Company commence here on Saturday, so we have much to look forward to. Wellington is otherwise very quiet, many people being away.

Airs. Wallis was ‘ at home” to a number of guests at Bishopscourt on Tuesday afternoon, when a small sale of very interesting pottery, etc., was held in aid of a charitable object. The things for sale were set out in the drawingroom, and were so quaint and pretty that everything was soon disposed of satisfactorily. Airs. Wallis collected many things during her recent visit to England, and these were some of what she brought out with her. A delicious tea was laid in the pretty diningroom. Airs. Wallis wore a biscuit-col-

oured silk gown, trimmed with embroidery and lace. Among those present were Airs, and Miss Duncan. Mrs. Warren. Miss Williams, Mrs. Anderson. Mrs Adams, Mrs. Pynsent, Mrs. ami Miss Stowe, Airs. Brown. Airs. Fell, Airs. Medley. Mrs. and Miss Richmond. Mrs. Crawford. Mrs. Morison, Mrs. C. Cooper, Mrs. Newman. Alisses Harcourt, Gore, Fell, Brspdon, ami others.

The annual sports and garden party in connection with th;- Girls’ High School had to be postponed from Friday on account of wet weather. They are to take place next Friday, 1 believe.
