ORANGE BLOSSOMS
FITCHETT—RATTRAY. An interesting wedding celebrated at Dunedin recently was that between Dr. Frank Fitchett, son of Dean Fitchett, of Ail Saints’ (North Dunedin), and Miss Gertrude Rattray, daughter of one of the most prominent and successful merchants of Dunedin. The Rev. W. CurzonSiggers, vicar of St. Matthew’s, and well known in Auckland, was the celebrant, the service being full choral. ROUSE—FRITCHLEY. Mr T. Rouse, of Napier, was married to Miss Clara Fritehley, daughter of the late Mr J. Fritchley, of Hastings, in St. Matthew’s Church, Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, on 9th inst, The bride was attended by two bridesmands. Misses Mary Fritchley and May Love, who wore very pretty cream muslin dresses. The Rev. C. L. Tuke officiated. After the ceremony the guests assembled at the residence of the bride’s brother-in-law, Mr J. Hawkins, for the wedding breakfast. A-SHWIN-DUNNE. A pretty and effective wedding, interesting to many Auckland and Waikato friends, was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church. Panmure, on September 9th, the officiating clergyman being Father J. O’Hara. The contracting parties were Chas. A. Ashwin, third son of the late Mr M. R. Ashwin, of Cambridge, and Ella C., youngest daughter of Mr Joseph Dunne, of Panmure. The church was full to overflowing. The bride was given away by her father, and looked pretty and winsome in a dress of ivory silk beautifully trimmed,and long train, with orthodox veil over a coronet of orange blossoms and carried a large shower bouquet and also wore a massive gold bangle, gifts of the bridegroom. She was attended by Miss H. Hunt and Miss L. Fleming as bridesmaids, the former wearing a dress of cream serge, nicely trimmed with ecru insertion, picture hat to match; the latter wore a dress of cream cribbeline trimmed with ecru insertion, also a picture hat to match. Both carried large cream shower bouquets, and wore gold brooches, gifts of the bridegroom. Two little train bearers, in Millie Malone and Dorothy Clifton, wore dainty white silk Empire frocks, and large picture hats tied with long streamers, and carried baskets of
white clematis, and eaeh wore simple gold brooches, also gifts. The bridegroom was attended by Mr -Joseph Dunne (jun.), as best man, ably assisted by Mr Ernest Long. Mrs Donne (the mother of the bride) was attired in a dress of black voile trimmed with black lace, with cream lace front and hat to match. The breakfast was held at Sylvia Villa, the residence of the bride’s parent*. Mr and Mr- Ashwin left i th ■ afternoon for Rotorua. BOND—STEWART. Ou Tuesday, the Bth September, at St. Lawrence Church of England. Aramoho, Wanganui, a wedding of great local interest took place (writes our Wanganui correspondent). The bridegroom was the Rev. E. I. Wynne Bond, who was married to Miss Mary Stewart, youngest daughter of Mr John T. Stewart. The Rev. T. B. Mcljean officiated, and the Rev. J. J. S. Bartlett, formerly of Wanganui, and now of Wellington, acted ns best man. The church was beautifully decorated with greenery and white flowers. The chancel was particularly pretty, having M.S. and E. 8., the initials of the bride and bridegroom, designed in white flowers on a shield and heart, connected with a floral bell and festoons of white flowers, ribl>on«, and numerous flower horseshoes. In spite of a deluge of rain the church was quite filled with friends. The service was full choral. The bride wore a pretty spotted muslin costume, with accordionpleated flounce at the foot of the skirt, •tucked and banded wftli lace and insertion. She wore a veil and coronet of orange blossoms, and carried a lovely shower bouquet of white heath, snowdrops. and ferns. The bridesmaid* were the little Misses Gwendoline Hole and Joan Cleghorn. They wore dainty white tucked muslins, banded with Paris coloured insertion, pale pink liberty silk sashes, white accordion-pleated muslin hats, and carried baskets of flowers—snowdrops, pink roses, and ferns. They ■wore pretty gold bird brooches, connected with a chain, the gifts of the bridegroom. Mrs Stewart, the bride’s mother, wore a handsome black brocaded costume, black coat, with applique collar and revers, black hat with chiffon, plumes, and white osprey; she carried a shower bouquet of heliotrope pansies and ferns. Mrs H. Sargeant, the bride's sister, wore a smart pale grey crepe de chine, tucked, and the skirt trimmed with wide band of Maltese silk lace and vandykes of pale grey velvet, the bodice ornamented with collar and yoke of Maltese lase and rolled violet velvet, a swathe belt of velvet the same shade,pretty black strawpicture hat with chiffon, ostrich feathers, black and violet daisies; Miss Mabel Stewart, pale grey tweed, strapped with grey silk, white silk and lace vest, white straw hat, with chiffon and violets; Miss Jane Stewart, silvery grey tucked voile, with lace collar, white fancy straw hat with chiffon and heliotrope flowers; Miss F. Stewart, grey hop-sack gown, with large square collar banded with white cloth, lace vest, with insertion, blaek and white straw hat with black and white ribbons and white lilac, veiled with black chiffon. Amongst the guests I noticed Mrs Holt’, in a navy blue serge, capes banded with green velvet, black straw hat with velvet aud feather pompon, and steel
buckle along the brim; Mrs (leghorn, black Melton doth coat aud skirt, black glare -.ilk collar, white lace vest, blaek crinoline straw bat. with black roses and leaves; Mrs Hawke, dark grey tweed frock, Russian blouse, strapped white lace and silk vest, picture hat with plumes; Mrs Fitzherbeit, black and golJ brocaded gown, with Maltese lace collar. blaek hat with sequins on white satin and plumes; Mrs Cave, blaek velvet costume, with lace trimmings, blaek and white bonnet : Mrs Maclean, crushed strawberry frieze, strapped with black satin, blaek velvet hat with black feathers; Mrs Dunn, black gown, with black and white coat, black hat; Mrs Dy mock, blaek strapped costume, black hat with plumes aud red and green shaded flowers and foliage: Mrs ABrowne, black velvet: Mrs Bridgewater, bright blue frieze, with black hat and chiffon trimmings; Miss P. Jones, black silk gown, with bolero of gold and jet sequins, black picture hat with jet and feathers, louquet of daffodils and ferns; Miss Graham (Pahiatua). pale biscuitcoloured voile, tucked and banded with lace and insertion, pale blue chou, picture hat of chiffon and feathers; Miss Knapp, navy blue cloth Eton coat and skirt, large square collar of white silk, vest to match, black hat with plumes, shower bouquet of yellow flowers; Miss McLean, blaek and white costume, with white felt hat, and trimmed with glace silk, white fur muff and necklet: Mrs Wood, black silk gown, with rich collar of Maltese lace, black and white bonnet. pretty eliower bouquet of choice bulbs; Miss Taylor, navy blue Eton coat and skirt, handsome collar of real lace, cream vest, blue felt hat with pompons; Miss Dvmock, electric blue gown, with black hat; Miss Cave, blue and white striped silk, blaek straw hat with chiffon and feathers; Miss Brewer, black skirt, rose pink silk bk.use, banded with cream insertion, black hat with pkimesy Miss Newcombe, electric blue canvas, gown, with square collar of blue glace silk, white fancy straw’ hat with piitk and blue shaded butterfly ribbons. Messrs Cave (2), Stewart (3), McNeill. Dunn, Hole. Dymock, and others. After the ceremony the bridal party proceeded to “Haumoana.” the residence of the bride’s parents, and afterwards the newly married couple left by train for the South, where the honeymoon is to be spent The present were numerous and costly, including a purse of sovereigns from Mr Bond’s parishioners.
