An admirable idea of the horrible catastrophe is given by the above photo. Close to the group indicated by the cross were standing the party of six, out of which but two escaped. At their back is the ravine, down which they were hurled. A little further along the hill than the group visible against the sky line, stood Mrs. Nicholls and Guide Warbrick at the time of the fatal eruption.
