Dear Bee, August 11. On Friday afternoon Mrs Cleghorn gave a most enjoyable “KITCHEN TEA” for- Miss Mary Stewart, who is to be married shortly. Each guest brought some useful present. Amongst the guests were the Misses Stewart (3). Harris, F. Moore, Christie, M. Jackson, Anderson, H. Barnicoat, Dodgshun, McDonnell, Richmond, and many others. A large progressive EUCHRE PARTY was given by Miss Jones on Thursday evening. Amongst the guests were the Misses McDonnell, Pratt, Richmond, Millward (Wellington), Griffiths, Pickering, Nolan (Gisborne), Gilfillan (Auckland), Dodgshun, Christie, and others. On Friday, "th, the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club held their ANNUAL BALL in the Drill Hall. It was a brilliant success. Visitors came in from Palmerston, Hawera, and the Rangitikei districts, A sumptuous supper was provided for the many guests, the tabic being decorated with beautiful spring bulbs and hunting cups. A delicious afternoon tea was provided by the host and hostess, Mr and Mrs Allan Cameron, and a capital day’s sport was enjoyed by the many visitors who came from town. Amongst the riders I noticed Messrs Speed, Higgie, Elliott, McNeill, Blair, Saunders, Cullinane. S. Morton, Gordon, Cameron, Grace, etc., Misses Crawley, Duigau, Newcombe, Blair. Driving were Mrs G. Marshall, Miss Earle, Miss N. Wilson (Rangitikei), Mrs Zander. Mrs Kitchen, Mr and Mrs •Tames Anderson, Mr and Mrs W. Anderson, Mrs and Miss Barnard -Brown, Mrs Patterson, Miss McLead, Misses Robertson, Anderson, Baker, Harrison, and many others. THE THIRD MATCH OF THE SEASON between the Maiiawatu v. Wanganui Golf Clubs was played on the Balgownie links on Saturday afternoon, and resulted in a win for Wanganui by 5 up. The visiting team consisted of the following: Messrs Nicholas, A. Strang, Dr. Wilson. Hopkins, Freeth, Dr. Stowe (captain), Cooke, Monro, W. Strang, G. Pharazyn, L. Abraham, and Ross. Afternoon tea was provided bv the members of the Ladies’ Golf Club, and was much appreciated. . .
