OBITUARY.

News has been received et the death of Sirs Robert MeNaull (well known in the Waikato), who passed away at Paterangi last week. Mr MeNaull was a daughter of Mr Bremner, of Piako.

Another of the earliest colonists, in the person of Mr Robert V. yctt, has passed away. The deceased, who was 89 years of age, arrived in the eolouy with the first survey party in the barque t'ulia. in 1839. Re has been a resident o; Masterton for tiie past thirty years.

The d-ath has occurred at the Hamilton Hospital of Mr J. J. Ross, of Maniaku, the cause being pneumonia. He was only thirty-four years of age. and was married about lour years ago to a daughter of Mr E. O. Anioore, late of Ngaire, Taranaki. He himself was the youngest w-n of Mr R. S. Ross, of Kaiwaka., and he leaves behind him a widow and two young children.

East Saturday night Master Jack Geddes, nine-year-old son of Mr J. MeKail Geddes, merchant of this city, died at bis parents’ residence, Symonds-street. <hi Monday week he was about as usual, strong and well, but subsequently he was taken suddenly ill, having by seme means contracted blood-poisoning. Great sympathy is felt for the bereaved parent- in their sad lo i. The rather sudden death of Mrs It. Itob-on, which occurred at her residen. c. Carlton-road, Christchurch. this week, has caused much regret among a wide rin-lc of friends and relatives. Mrs Bobson was the widow of the late Mr Robert Dobson, and daughter of the late Mr Potts, of Governor's Bay. and the greatest sympathy is felt for Mr- Potts at the sudden bereavement. Mrs Potts moved to Christ church a few years ago, and recently built a new house on Papanuiroad. writes our C hristchurch correspondent. MR' MeKIN'TREY. Mrs MeKinstrey, wife of Mr W. MeKinstrey, manager Kauri Timber Co, Whangarei. died last week at Pukernntl, Waikato. Her decease i-nuse'd universal regret in. the Northern town. Tile de■eased lady was very widely esteemed for her kindly and Christian disposition. A memorial service was held in Christ Chureli. Whangarei, on Sunday last, the incumbent referring to her death in kindly and touching language. REV. GORDON WEBSTER. News has been.received of the death in Edinburgh of the Rev. Gordon Webster, who for many years was in charge of St. Andrew's Church. Christchurch, and olive occupied the position of Moderator ot the Genera! Assembly lin 1898,>. The deceased cleric went Home some years ago, and a serious operation then performed on him had the effect of lengthening out his life by a few years, though he was forbidden to return to the colony. Mr Webster was in his early life an engineer, but took to the Church in the great revival of ’59-60, receiving the Free Church at Girvan. Ayrshire, a few years after. In ’77 he was inducted to the charge of St. Andrew’s, in which position he did much to aid the cementing of the Norther:.' and Southern churches. He was a v«ry keen business men, and his administrative ability was invaluable to his church. MRS. HAYLES. The death lias occurred of Mrs. R. C. Hay les, 71 years of age. The deceased was the widow of the late Mr. Benjamin Charles Hayles. and came to this colony from Sydney in the Lord Ashley to join leer husband in the early sixties. During her residence of over 40 years in Auckland Mrs Hayles made - many friends, who will sympathiseWith the family in lheir loss. Mrs Hayles was a finu friend, and Ix-ing naturally charitably disposed was ever ready to assist to the utmost limit of her means those less liappily < in-uinstaneed than herself. An earnest Christian. she did her kindly acts in an unostentatious way, fairly earned the character of a faithful wife, and loving mother. L’p to a year or two ago Airs Hayles was wonderfully active for her age, but since then has been practically lie 1 -ridden, living with her married daughter. Mrs IL Potter, in Burleighstreet, where she died on July 24th. Deceased haves one son and three daughters.
