LATE SOCIETY NEWS

CAMBRIDGE.

Dear Bee, May 4. A meeting was held on Wednesday evening in St. Andrew’s Schoolroom of those interested in the Cambridge Young People’s Indus Ilia I Exhibition, at which Archdeacon Willis presided. It was decided that an exhibition should be held about the third week in November. A large general committee was formed, and an executive committee of live. Archdeacon Willis was elected president, and Miss Priestley secretary and treasurer.

A friendly match was played between the Cambridge East and West Tennis Clubs on Wednesday afternoon in the Domain at Cambridge East. There was only a small attendance, as the match was arranged so hurriedly that few knew of it. The dav was lovelv, and those

present spent an enjoyable afternoon. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies of the elub. Although Cambridge East was victorious, in all the matches, their opponents gave promise of becoming' good players, when it is remembered that this is their first season of play. Amongst those present I noticed:—Mrs Wright, black coat and skirt, black and white bonnet; Mrs Skeet, black dress, black and white bonnet: Mrs 1 oung blaek dress and mantle, black bonnet.; Mrs John Hally, black dress and black-, toque; Mrs Major, holland frock, string-eolonred point lace collar, black hat; Miss Nixon, blue dress, black hat trimmed with blue; Miss Veale, pink blouse trimmed with cream lace, black skirt, white hat; Miss Garland, crimson silk blouse, blaek skirt, gem hat; Miss Willis, silk blouse, black skirt, gem hat; Miss C. Willis, brown velveteen with blue front, blaek and blue hat; Miss E. Willis, pink silk blouse, black skirt, white, hat with pink roses; Miss K. Willis, black velveteen blouse, with silk strappings, blaek skirt, gem hat; Miss U. Dudley, blue frock, large point lace collar, hat to

match; Miss Gwynneth. rosewood blouse with string-coloured lace collar, blaek skirt, black and Rosewood hat; Misa Wright, check blouse, blaek skirt, grey jacket, black hat with pale blue; Miss Well<, rosewood dress, with blaek strappings, black bat; Miss Skeet. white silk blouse, black skirt, gem hat; Misses Walker, black. •

The opening of the golf took place on Saturday afternoon and proved a great success. The day was not all that could have been desired, but as the rain kept off we had much to be thankful for. Mr Skeet. the energetic secretary had been busy for some days getting the ground ready. A tent was erected for the afternoon tea, which was presided over bj’ Mrs C. Hunter, Mrs J. R. S. Richardson and Miss Banks. Miss Willis and Mr Buckland and Miss Willis and Mr Price were the first to lead off, and several other couples followed. Amongst, those present I noticed Mr, Mrs and Miss Buckland. Mrs Young and the Misses Young. Mrs (Dr.) Roberts, Mrs Richardson.
