AQUATICS.

The Northern Rowing Union held their last meeting under that name at the Sports Club last week. Auckland will in future govern its own rowing, and ar the meeting of delegates from the various clubs last evening the Auckland Rowing Association was formed, with a strong committee, who intend to make Auckland in future a leading rowing place;- A rowing regatta will be held on Lake Takapuna on March 7th, under the new- rules of the association.

At a meeting held In the- Victoria Institute on Monday evening, Capt. Tjirner In the chair, the sub-committees lor the forthcoming aquatic sports at Rotorua were elected, and are as follows: -Aquatic sports: Messrs M.-Math, A.”S. Bark-:r, McDonald, Warbrick. Clarke. McLean, J. Munroe. Clayton. General sports; Messrs Clarke, Spencer, Beal, R. Griffiths, J. W. Webber, A. S. Parker, Oldfield, Steel, and Sloan. Evening entertainment committee: Messrs J, W. Webber. Stewart. John Munroe. Warbrick. Horomona. Pirika. Maggie Papakura. and Bella Tom. An excellent programme will Include aquatic and athletic sports, a picnic by sea to Hamurana, and bowling- and tennis tournaments in the sanatorium grounds. The Auckland Amateur Swimming Club has been invited to hold its annual championship meeting on Lake Rotorua, and the Rotorua Bowling and Tennis Clubs to take part in a tournament on Saturday, February 28. The Bowling Club is offering £3 to provide a set of bowls as a prize at this meeting. Captain MacDonald, of the Hot Lakes Steam Navigation Co., will supply tw-o or three orals free for the use of the committee. There will be several events for local oarsmen. Special concessions will be granted by the Government as to fares; local competitors, for example, being allowed to bring their boats free, provided that their crews travel with them.

At the Port Nicholson Yacht Club’s Regatta, the first-class race was won by the Torangi, which beat the Waitangi by 14 minutes. The second-class yacht race resulted: Mahina, 1; Muritai, 2: Siren, 3.
