Gleeson did not remain in longer, being bowled by Cole when he had made five. Kallender was not even so lucky, having two opposite his name when McCarthy found his wicket. Hemus was clean bowled by the same bowler before he could break his duck, and five wickets were down for forty-four. Auckland did not increase the score materially, the last wicket falling for 77, leaving Taranaki victorious by 152 runs. Mason made 10, N. B. Lusk 14. McCarthy bowled splendidly. The above match will not count as an !nterprovincial fixture, as the Auckland team was not sent by the Auckland Cricket Association, and was not a representative one. The team was sent down to Taranaki by private enterprise.
