Auckland Farmers’ Co-operative Society, Ltd.
The quarterly meeting of the above society took place in the Gladstone Coffee Palace last Friday. In the absence of Captain Makgill, Mr A. Morrison, of Awhitu, was voted to the chair. Mr Sam A. Browne acted as secretary. The report and balancesheet were read. The balance-sheet showed that trade had nearly doubled over the last quarter, and was not only well sustained, but increasing. A large order for butter was received from the British Wholesale Co-opera-tive Societies, but owing to being late in ordering, enough could not be secured. Efforts were being made to secure : -neies in country districts to accommodate farmers. In regard to fruit, the prospects were good, and it only required hearty co-operation of fruitgrowers to do a great amount of good. '1 ~c secretary's report showed that shares were being freely taken in the country districts, and the number of shareholders was now nearly 101)0.
