Mrs Medley (Wellington) is visiting friends in Wanganui. Mrs Abbott (Wellington) has gone up to Auckland for the races. Miss Large, of “The Mount,” Napier, is visiting friends in Dunedin. Mr and Mrs Richardson , (Masterton) spent Christmas in Wellington. Mr and Mrs Wiggins, Sumner, have gone to Mt. Cook. The Hon. J. D. Ormond (Hawke’s Bay) is on a visit to Wellington. Sir George Whitmore will probably return to the colony by the Waiwera. Mrs and Miss Bloxam, Papanui, are at Governor’s Bay for a change. Mr Henry Wood (Christchurch) has gone a trip to Sydney.
The Rev. W. S. Bowie and Mrs Bowie, of Waipawa, have gone for a trip to Rotorua.
Lieutenant Hovell has returned from South Africa, and is spending his leave at the Deanery, Napier.
Mr and Mrs R. L. Levin (Wellington) have been spending the holidays at Bowlands, Wairarapa. Mr and Mrs Peter Wood, Christchurch, are spending the holidays at Sumner.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Baillie, Carterton, were staying with Lieutenant and Mrs. Baillie in Picton for Christmas.
Mr and Mrs Thomas (Auckland) are visiting Mr and Mrs J. C. 'Wilkin, Carlton Place, for Christmas. Mrs Ralph Fitzherbert (Marton, Rangitikei) is paying a visit to Wellington.
Mr. and Mrs. Welford were in Picton for Christmas, staying with Dr. and Mrs. Scott. Miss Ronalds, Christchurch, has gone on a visit to Miss Courage, Amberley. ,

(Mr and Mrs Jellicoe (Wellington) are staying at Bellevue Gardens, Lower Hutt, for part of the summer. Mrs G. Gould and family (Christchurch) are going to spend the holidays at Moeraki. Dr and Mrs Reginald Stowe (Palmerston North) are staying with Mr and Mrs Stowe, Wellington.
Mr Webster (Wellington) is staying with his sister, Mrs Chaffey, at Highfield, Amari.
Mr. L. F. Allen, Wellington, spent a few days in Picton with his people this week.
Miss Daniel and Miss Abbott (Wellington) have gone to Hawke’s Bay; Miss Butts is on a visit to Napier. Mr and Mrs Ernest Coleridge (Wellington) are staying at St. Paul’s Vicarage for the time being. Mrs E. D. Benjamin has returned to her Auckland home from her trip to Sydney.
Miss Grace Harcourt is back in Wellington, after a round of visits in Canterbury. Miss Isabel Blackett (Wellington) is on a visit to Mrs Lysaght, “Mokoia,” Hawke’s Bay. Mr and Mrs W. Wood (Christchurch) have gone for a trip to Mt. Cook.
Mrs C. Wiggins (Wellington) is visiting her mother, Mrs Ki ver, Tuamstreet, Christchurch. Mrs. Jenkins, of the Bank of New South Wales, Blenheim, han gone to Nelson on a visit to friends.
Miss Laura Beanchamp, “Anikiwa,” Queen Charlotte Sound, has gone to spend her holidays in Wellington.
Mrs Michael Studliolme, Waimatc, came up to Christchurch to meet, her daughter, who returned from England in the Ruapehu. Mr and Mrs F. de C. Malet, Christchurch, and Mrs Randall are staying at Clearwcll, with Mr and Mrs Leonard Malet.
Among passengers by the Victoria to Wellington were Mr and Mrs A. W. Cave, of Masterton, who have been paying the Old Country a visit.
Amongst the N.Z. visitors to London this year will be Mr and Mrs Wilford, of Wellington. They leave on their tour to-day (Wednesday). Miss Scanlon, formerly of Blenheim, now living a Palmerston North, has been visiting Mrs. W. Green, and staying at the Club Hotel, Blenheim.
Mr. James Greensill and Mr. Whitehorn cycled from Motueka, Nelson, to spend Christmas with Mrs. Greensill at Waikawa, Picton. Mr A. J. Allom, of Parnell, Auckland, intends going on a visit to the South about the end of the present month.
Another well-known newspaper man, one of the proprietors of the “London Times,” Mr Stephen Walter, is visiting N.Z. Mr and Mrs V. Hargreaves, Merivale, have gone to Mr and Mrs Peter Cunningham, Pleasant Point, for a fortnight.
Mrs and the Misses Dillon, who are returning to the colony after a prolonged absence abroad, were passengers by the same steamer.
Mr and (Mrs W. Ferguson are at Otaki for some weeks before returning to their town house in Wellington. i
Captain Edwin and the Misses Edwin (Wellington) are going the, trip tol Stewart Island and the Weet Coast Sounds by the Waikare.
Mr and Mrs W. D. Wood and Mrs H, Wood and children (Christchurch) have gone to “Swyncombe,” Kaikoura, for Christmas.
The Misses Henry (Wellington), who went Home about a year ago, have decided to prolong- their stay for some time.
The Rev. T. H. Sprott and Mrs Sprott (Wellington) are going to Christchurch for some weeks on a holiday trip.
Mrs Von Dadelzen, of the Naipier Athenaeum, has gone to spend several weeks with Mrs Shrimpton, of Clive Grange. •
Mrs Vawdrey Baldwin (Palmerston North) has been visiting Wellington, staying with Mr and Mrs G. Pearce. <
Mr and Mrs A. de B. Brandon (Wellington) are staying- at their country house at Pahatanui for part of the summer.
Mr Adams, conductor of the choir of the Church of the Sacred Heart, was last Sunday the recipient of a handsome presentation from the Rev. Dr. Egan and members of the choir.
Mr E. M. Carr, who was for many years employed on the New Zealand railways, has been appointed secretary to the Amalgamated Railway and Tramway Service Association of New South Wales.
Mr and Mrs Ewen and Mr Percy Buller are making a short stay in Wanganui, prior to doing the river trip and spending a few days at Pipiriki.
Mr and Mrs Butt, Mrs Watson, and a large party of young people are camping out at Port Underwood for seme -W'eeks, returning to Wellington about the end of January. Mr and Mrs J. Strang (Palmerrton North) have just returned from a trip to England, anti are spending a few days in Wellington before proceeding home.
Miss K. Fitz Gerald (Wellington) id on a visit to friends in Otago and Southland. Miss B. Fitz Gerald is home, after a long stay in Christchurch.
The motor-ear craze is in full fored in Wellington. Among the latest motorists arc Dr. Collins, Mr H. D. Bell, Mr T. W. Hislop, Mr Justice Edwards, Mr H. P. Barber, M.H.R., and Dr. Chapple.
Lady Berkely and the Misses Berkely have left for Hong Kong, where they will live for the future, Sir 11. Berkely having accepted an appointment there after leaving Fiji.
Mr D. Miller, Inspector of Pos-t-of-fices in the North Island, has linen appointed postmaster of the Wanganui office, and left Auckland last Friday for Wanganui. Mrs Longden (Sydney) and two du lighters are over on a visit, and were recently staying with Mis Longxlen’s sister, Mrs Peache, Mount Somers.
Mr. W. B. Fisher, the Wellington secretary of St. John’s Ambulance Association, and Mrs. Fisher, are spending the Christmas holidays in Marlborough.
Mrs. Beauchamp, Anikiwa. Picton, and Miss L. Greensill, Waikawa, have gone to Motueka, Nelson, to visit Miss Fearon, and Mrs. Salisbury for a few w’eeks.
(Mr and Mrs W. L. Kennedy, of “Ellerslie,” Toko, and their son, have been on a short visit to Wanganui to spend Christmas with Mrs Heron, of Durie Hill.
Mr F. Wilding, Christchurch, and one of his daughters, have gone to Nelson to the tennis tournament, and Mrs Wilding and the other two daughters to Timaru, and are staying at “Beverley.”
The many friends of Miss Ivy Tlill, daughter of the late Mr Thos. Hill,. Collector of Customs, who is gifted with a very rich soprano voice, will be pleased to learn that she has been engaged by Algar Leslie for an extended tour through America. The Sydney press speaks very highly of her as a dramatic artist. Mr Leslie says she wil cut a figure sure in America.
