Napier Cathedral Font.

A very beautiful work of art has just b«***n placed in Napier Cathedral. It is a replica of the famous font by Thorvaldsen. the celebrated Danish sculptor, which is to be seen at Copenhagen in the Vor Fruekvike, the metropolitan church of Denmark. !• represents an angel in a kneeling posture, holding a shell, which is used as the font lor baptisms. The angel, shell and pedestal are carved out of one SQlid block of pure white Carrara marble. They are placed upon a Hight of marble steps at the west end of Napier Cathedral. The cost of obtaining the font from Italy, and erecting it, £llO, has been defrayed 2rom a fund initiated by Dean llovell for the purpose some years ago.
