Dear Bee. — December 5. An enjoyable Garden Fete was given in aid of the Veterans’ Home oa the 3rd instant in the grounds of Dr. Caro’s private hospital. The pretty garden in front- of the institution is well adapted for such entertainments, and on this occasion it locked at its best- The City Band in the afternoon and the Battalion Band in the evening performed a programme of music. Various marquees were erected for tea. cooling drinks, jellies, sweets, etc. During the afternoon a maypole dance was given by the school children, and "Aunt
Sally” and the shooting gallery were well patronised. The railway entertainers attracted large audiences to their tent during the evening, w-htn the performers included Messrs Coward, Ellis, Eames, Biss. Gruchy, Hunt, Maylett, M’Rae, and Schierning. Amongst those present were: Mrs F. W. Williams, who wore a blue costume and a hat to match; Mrs Edgar, who looked well in white soft silk, trimmed with lace insertion, and a black velvet hat; Mrs Dewes wore a black coat and skirt and a sailor hat; Lady Russell had a black dress and a handsome black brocade coat, trimmed with fur; the Misses Bussed were also in black; Mrs Tabuteau bad a blue dress, a white boa and a hat to match; Mrs E. Dixon was in black and white; Mrs T. Moore had a dress of cornflower blue trimmed with white- and a black hat; Mrs Hovell was in dark blue doth, and she wore a becoming toque;. Miss Hovell also wore blue; Mrs Cornford Lad a blaek dress and a bonnet to match; Miss Cornford looked well, in white muslin, trimmed with embroidery, a ml Mack velvet hat; Mrs Cecil Cornford had a grass lawn costume; Mrs J. McLean wore a light green coat and skirt and a black hat; Mrs C. McLean was in black, and she wore pink roses in her hat: Mrs Spencer also wore black; Miss Spencer had a pink blouse, a black skirt, and a large black hat; Mrs Locking wore criinscn silk and a toque trimmed with pink roses; Miss Locking had a pink dress; Mrs Logan had a black dress, long fawn coat, and a black hat; Mrs Cato wore a fawn coat and skirt with white revers, covered with guipure lace and a biack hat-; Mrs Coleman was in blaek; Miss Coleman wore a blue coat and skirt and a pink and blue bat; Mrs A. Kennedy looked well in dark blue and a black picture hat; Mrs Margoliouth wore clack, a blaek silk coat and a bonnet to match; Miss Margoliouth had a bright green silk Mouse, a black skirt, and a black chiffon hat;" Miss I. Margoliouth wore cream muslin and a black hat;
Miss Large had a pale grey costume; Mrs Bowen wore white, relieved with blue, and a black hat; Mrs Hector Smith had a blue dress, and her hat was trimmed with pink; Mrs Bennett had a very dainty white silk dress, trimmed with laee. and a becoming toque; Miss Kennedy wore a Hue end white figured muslin ditMa. with rows of black velvet round the skirt; Miss Dulcie Kennedy wore a dark skirt, a fawn jacket, and a sailor hat; Mrs Tuke was in grev and black; M iss NeviHe looked well in cream muslin; Mrs Goldsmith had a gob.-lin blue costume, trimmed with cream silk: Miss Goldsmith wore cream: Miss Sutton had a deep crison coal and skirt, and a black hat: Miss C. Button wore pale blue and white; Miss Burke had a white muslin dress, a fawn jacket, and a black hat; Miss Ella Burke also wore* white muslin and a pretty (fink hat; Miss Rutherfond wore a dainry cream silk blouse trimmed with insertion, and a blue skirt—her picture hat was trimmed with feat l»ers: Miss F. Williams wore a pale blue linen dress; Miss Hunter had a blaek costume and a sailor bat.; Miss Kitty Williams, blaek cloth coat and vskirt. hat to match: Mrs Von Dadeleen. black dress, fawn jacket. becoming cream hat; Miss Von Dadeb-en also wore Wack and fawn, and her hat- was trimmed with pink; Mass Hilda Von Dadelzen (Wellington) was in blue: Mrs Tylee had a black coat and skirt, and a hat to match: Mrs Canning. handsome black dnoss. silk cape: Miss Williams also wore blaek: Miss Davis was in grey; Mrs Paisley, blaek. mantle o! silk and efciffon; Mrs Stedman wore a light muslin dress; Mrs Baxter was in blue, and her toque was trimmed with red; Miss McLernon looked well in a pale b’ue silk blouse and a dark skirt; Mrs Murton had a figured muslin dress and a black toque: Miss Hsmilin wore a fawn coat and skirt end a sailor hat; Mrs Tonkin wore a deep cream muslin dress and a black hat; Miss Edwards (Nelson) also wore-cream; Miss Erickson was
admired in white muslin and lace, large black picture hat, trimmed with I-ale blue ribbon; Mrs George White had a black costume, black chiffon bst: Mrs W. Anderson also looked well in black; Miss Loudon had a trown dress, trimmed with pate blue; Miss Het ley was in white muslin; Miss Seale, fawn jacket, dark skirt, sailor bat.
