The Largest Kauri in New Zealand.

The honour of possessing- the largest knurl in the colony belongs to the Kaihu district (Upper Kaipara). There, some ten miles from the township, is a small forest, of very 1 arge trees, and among them the monster known as the Maungatu kauri. This tree has a girth of 49ft 6in, and contains 50.000 ft of timber, or enough to build five 3-rooined cottages. The Government have wisely reserved the forest as a public park.
