IJ'O THE ELECTORS OF WAITEMATA. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN— Having been requested by e large body of Electors to offer myself as a candidate for your suffrages. I baw anally decided to. place my services at your disposal. After Parliament disolves, I will, as soon as convenient, address the Electors, and In the meantime announce myself an unswerving advocate of:— 1. Economy to the cost of Administration us opposed to the present system of reckless extravagance; also, that the Finances of the colony be controlled by Parliament, and not solely by Ministers. 2. More vigorous encouragement of Settlement by the State In opening up and disposing of Crown and Native Lands In the North Island, granting purchasers the option of acquiring the Frehold. 3. That the large estates held by the Assets Company, which are really under control Of the Government, be subdivided and disposed of to areas suitable for close settlement. 4. A defined policy of borrowing for Public Works, and the energetic prosecution of such works, up to the revenue producing point, or completion. 5. That important public works be carried out trader a system of contract, as against the present wasteful co-operative gjrsteiu. 6- That the Upper House be elective by the people. 7. That the expenditure on roads and bridges, railways and land for settlement In the North Isfelid be at least equal to that of tlie South Island. Yours faithfully, EWEN WM. ALISON.
