THE BUTCHERS' PICNIC.
The annual butchers’ picnic, which laok place at Motutapu yesterday, under the auspices of the Auckland butchers, proved an unqualified success. Mr James Reid accorded the visitors a hearty welcome to the island. The committee who had the arrangements in hand worked harmoniously, and Mr R. B. Swarbrick made an energetic secretary. A number of the master butchers were present and took keen interest in the proceedings. The Newton band discoursed selections. A number of the sports events on the programme were very evenly contested. The following are the names of the Committee to whose hard working efforts the success of the picnic was due :—W. T. Moylan, president; M. T. Whelan, treasurer; R. V. SwarbricK, hon. sec.; C. Norgrove, vice-chairman; Messrs. D. McNaughton, McElwain, G. Wiseman, T. Waller, R. Jones. J. Adams, D. Stewart, M. King, Madden, G. Mason, W. Lincoln, W. Bally, F. Connolly. H. McNaughton, A. Harker, Cole, A. Langley, F. Cooper.
