Dear Bee, January 28. Among the audiences AT THE OPERA HOUSE LAST WEEK 1 noticed: Mrs Alfred Nathan, in a charming azure blue gown with white transparent sleeves spangled with sequins; Mrs (Or.) Parkes, black evening dress, with corsage bouquet of pink flowers; Mrs Armitage, black gown with long laee sleeves; Miss Myers, pretty white tucked silk trimmed with black velvet; Mrs Donald, pink and green silk blouse, and black silk skirt; Miss Donald, soft white silk inserted with lace, blush rose pink collar; Mrs Hugh Owen, rose pink silk blouse, black silk skirt; Mrs (Dr.) Lewis wore a lovely orange coloured brocade with sleeves and bolero of black Spanish lace; Miss Eileen Lewis was in-black with clusters of pink roses on corsage: Mrs Markham looked distinguee in ivory white with numerous frills of lace; Mrs R. Al. Watt, white tucked muslin inserted with laee; Miss Savage, heliotrope and white ehallie softened with lace. DANCE AT ROTORUA. Our Rotorua correspondent writes: —An impromptu but delightful little dance was given at Bathgate House, Rotorua, on Friday, January 10th, by the visitors with Mrs Brent's kind permission and assistance. Mrs James, the energetic promoter, must have felt very gratified with the result .of her efforts, for on all sides expressions of enjoyment could be heard. The night was not too warm, and the gardens and verandahs made charming promenades. At 11 p.m.- supper was handed round and more dancing indulged in afterwards. Some very dainty and smart frocks were worn by the ladies. few are quoted, but it is impossible t.o mention all owing to the number present. Airs James (N.S.W.), black silk; Airs Alassey (London), black silk; Mrs Brent, cream frock; Afrs Lawlor, black silk; Afrs Taylor (Sydney), black silk; Airs Rae, cream blouse; Airs Gilkinson (Otago), black silk: Mrs Snitar, black costume: Airs Shaw (Adelaide), black silk: Mrs Lyons, black silk; the Alisses Taylor (Sydney), cream satin and cream spangled net; Miss Dennison (N.S.W.). blue silk; her younger sister, white silk; Aliss Timpson, white tucked muslin; Aliss Ringwood, black silk; Aliss O’Kane (Gore), white muslin: Aliss Lawlor, pink; Miss Snitar. cream: Aliss K. Snitar, cream; Aliss ,E. Rae. white silk: Aliss Bagnall, white blouse. Among the gentlemen I noticed:— Air James Lieut.-Col. Alassey. .Messrs Alassey, Shaw,- Gore-Jones (Fiji). O’Kane-, Falkiner (N.S.W.), Taylor, Lawlor. Gilkinson. Aloore, Desborough. At the conclusion of the dance Air Lawlor proposed a vote of thanks to Afrs James, which was responded to by Afr James, who then proposed one for Afrs Brent. Hearty cheers were given for loth ladies. Then all retired feeling thoroughly satisfied with the evening's enjoyment.
