As He Put It.
The wife of a certain gentleman is one of those, very unfortunate individuals whose thoughts are never a wav from work.
She is always wor y'nr about so rething, never at rest, which is equivalent to saying that the doctor is rarely out of the house.
Quite recently, on the hu-band’s suggestion, the doctor promised to speak very plainly to his patient on the matter.
Taking a hand-mirror from the dressing-table, the medical gentleman held it in front of the patient and re-
marked: “Look at that, Mrs X. Do you think that at your age you should have the wrinkled, careworn apj earance of an old woman? Certainly not. That is the work of fretting. You should never worry.” A few days later Mrs X had forgotten the good advice, and.was fidgeting over some trivial. matter when her six-year-old son approached and gravely remarked: “Mamma* l>on’t you remember what the doctor said about your fretwork face?”
