The ordinary play took place on all the Auckland greens last Saturday. The Newmarket Chib starts the matches for the single-handed championship soon. Entries will close on Saturday next. In addition to the championship there will be matches for novices and also for members who have never won a prize, ami an open handicap for a pair of bowls presented by the president. ; .A-pair of gold merfi als haae been presented by Stewart Dawson and Co., to be compete® Tor on Anniversary Day January- .29) by pairs. The Devon port Chib have made the draws for the first round in the matches (handicap singles, pairs, and championship singles);’and play is to start at once. The. second round will commence bn January sth.
