Bear Bee.—. October 19. The Gtiarfls’ Club held a i DANCE in the Drill flail last Thursday evening. The hall was profusely decorated with hunting, and the music was rrnderefl by Mr McKinnon-Bain's orchestra, which deserved much praise. The decoration* for the supper tables were

done by Mutates Huuipbries and Lawnon. The floor was excellent, thanks to Mr. J. Revell. The' committee consisted of Captain Taunton, Sergeant Mae Diarmid, I*rivate A. Humphries, Bugler Ford and Corporals Gold water, Webster, Treeby, Nixon, Privates Bayly. Neal and Black. The duties of secretary were ably carried out by Colour-Sergeant Waldie, There was also a sprinkling of the Hawera Mounted Rifles. Among the ladies present were Mrs. Taunton, handsome black satin, with steel sequin trimmings; Mrs. Messenger, green corded velvet; Mrs. Walter Bayly, black satin and cream lace; Mrs. Moako, very pretty figured muslin over pale pink Mrs. Clark, blaek lace over white: Mrs. A. Goldwater, black, lovely white ruched chiffon boa; Mrs. Mills, black merveilleux, pretty lace fichu; Miss Paul was much admired in ivory satin; Miss C. Bayly, pink silk; Miss B. Bayly, white; Miss E. Hursthouse, white net; Miss Drake, green, trimmed with pink; Miss A. Drake, white satin; Miss Hayward, yellow and white; Miss Aiteheson, pink silk; Miss Thomson, pink satin; Miss B. Thomson, white satin; Miss H. Humphries, pretty white silk; Miss Holdsworth, pink crepon; Miss G. Holdsworth, pink silk; Miss I. Hill, white; Miss Pearee, white; Miss M. Pearce, blue; Miss Sharpe (Wellington) was much admired in blaek satin, en traine, with steel embroidery over scarlet velvet; Miss Irvin, white lustre and scarlet trimmings; Miss Humphries, blaek and gold; Miss Ellis, white; Miss J. Ellis looked well in pink and cream; Miss Lewis, white and scarlet flowers; Miss McAllum, pink; Miss N. McAllum, black and pink; Miss Kirkby, white and silver; Miss Ryan, cerise; Miss Maule, white silk, with handsome trimmings, pink roses': Miss Rennell, pale pink net over crimson satin; Miss Jackson; Miss Lymonds; Miss Hursthouse, white; Miss Hoskin, pink; Miss Dargaville (Auckland), white silk, transparent lace, yoke of pearl trimmings; Miss Colson, black, with transparent sleeves; Miss Beridge, white awl searlet; Miss L. Richards, white silk; Miss Standish, -white silk. Among the gentlemen were a full muster of Guards in khaki; also Messrs. Brasch, Mills, Nathan, Strouts, Tonks, Humphries, Miller, Haise, Hawkins, Russell, Gilmour, O’Brien, Tonks and many others.
