NOW READY! NOW READY ! CHRISTMAS NUMBER , , OF T«R NEW ZEALAND wwiic..-. HHISTMAS is yet some way off, but its most welcome harbinger, the SPECIAL CHRISTMAS NUMBER _ of THE NEW ZEALAND GRAPHIC, is already here, with the same wealth of attractive features ” which has made it in former years admittedly The First of Australasian Annuals. Last year the sale of the number enormously exceeded the expectations of the Publishers. The first edition was speedily exhausted, and subsequent second and third editions following as rapidly as possible failed to keep pace with the public demand. This year arrangements have been made to anticipate a great sale, and already the orders are pouring in in a way that makes it somewhat difficult to fill them at onee. Our readers will greatly facilitate the work of the Publishers and avoid possible disappointment to themselves by making early application for copies. A OIAGJiIFICENT COLOURED PIiATE Measuring 30 x 25, and PRINTED IN EIGHT COLOURS Is once more the leading feature of the Annual. Last year the subject chosen was the Native Flowers of New Zealand, and we need scarcely recall how widely popular- the picture was. This season a companion picture makes its anpearance, the subject being . ' —at ‘ ' r The Native Birds of New Zealand. The Colony is particularly rich in birds of graceful form and brilliant plumage. The town dweller has no conception of the lieauty and variety of the feathered inhabitants of the New Zealand brake and bush ; and even the country settler is only familiar with those birds to be found in Iris own district. To both, then, it is distinctly something new to have the representatives of our bird population from the North Cape to the Bluft’ gathered together for then- honour. The drawing and colouring of each individual bird has been most carefully executed, so that they are most faithful representations of the originals, and the subsequent grouping and airangement has been the work of a special artist. The result is A UNIQUE PICTURE, both from the naturalist's and the artist’s point of view—a piece of colour work for which the Lithographic Department of the Brett Printing Company, in which it was prepared, deserves the highest praise. Among the FURTHER PICTORIAL ATTRACTIONS the following may be mentioned :— A Flower of Maoriland piece) " I Portage of War Canoes . .
