During the month of September the yield of the dredges reporting returns at Dunedin totalled 80390 z 13dwt 2gr. The total for the year so far is 47,3330 z 19dwt 4gr.

Twenty parties of tributers in the Moanataiari mine crushed 65 tens of quartz and SS pounds of picked stone for a return of 200 oz 13dwt of gold value £543 2/5. South British Insurance shares have firmed, buyers offering 65/ without transactions resulting. Waihi shares were firmer this week, buyers offering £ 10 10/. The buying price of Union Oils has advanced to 17/.

The lode in the Iron Cap mine is 2 feet 6 inches, and is a very kindly looking body of stone. The reef has been stripped, and a start made to break out the ore.

The ground on the north side of the Hokiansra reef in the May- Queen Extended mine is of a spelendid d s ription, but so intermixed with mineral seams as to be difficult to get through.

Northern Steam paid up issue are a little better, being now wanted at 14/9.

The Mananu return for the month was £484 18/11, practically from 270 tons and 72 tons of tailings. Hikurangi Coal shares have been in steady demand, and the buying price has advanced to 8/6.

Crushing has commenced at the Union Waihi Company’s battery. Some payable ore is being opened up in the Silverton. Amaranth, and Union lodes.

A well mineralised reef three feet wide has been discovered in the Kuruxmi mine. Waih Grand Junctions were enquired for at 33/, but holders asked higher rates.

During the past month the Tararti Creek Company’s battery, with 20 head of stamps ran 22 days. 720 tons being crushed, producing £367 13/7 by amalgamation, and 640 tons of tattings. yielding £203 16/10 by cyanide treatment. This makes a total value from the mine to 31st August £37.151 17/1.

Bank of New Zealand shares are wanted at 18/6.

Buyers of Waitekauri shares advanced from 38/6 to 40/ during the week.

In cheap lines of mining shares, Kotnata Beefs were wanted at 1/3, Kapowais 6d, Welcome Jacks 51'1. Alpha 6d. Waihi Consols 2d. Consolidateds 2.’.d, Souths 6d, and Extendeds at 1/.

The annual meeting of shareholders in the Progress-Castle Rock Company lapsed. The accounts showed: Total receipts. £877 2/3: of which £378 11/6 was from calls, and £320 9/1 from bullion won. The expenditure left a credit balance of £54 5/3. During the year £428 7/ was expended in mine wages, and £64 15/ battery wages.

The Macaronic Extended claim has lately been pegged out by Mr Barron and party. The reef is three feet wide, but very much broken. One. ton of ore treated yielded half an ounce.

About 20 to 301bs of stone taken from the leader in the low level of the Welcome Jack mine was shown in town this week. The stone shows tine gold distributed through it.

The Mount Eyell smelting returns from August 23 to September 19. inclusive, were as f0110w5:—20,792 tons of ore were treated from the mines, and also 4932 tons purchased. The ore converters produced 741 tons of blister copper, containing—copper, 732 tons; silver. 51,388 ounces; gold, 1709 ounces. The Tairua Broken Hills mill has run 10 hours per day, crushing 238 tons of ore, showing a value of 22/ per ton.

An option has been granted over the Victoria mine and property on the following terms: Capital of new company to be 200,000 shares of £1 each, vendors to receive 50,000 shares fully paid up. working capital £25,000. and 25,000 shares to be reserved for further working capital. Of the £25,000 working capital £15,000 to be in cash, and £lO.OOO guaranteed.

The annual meeting of shareholders in the May Queen Extended mine lapsed. The balance-sheet showed receipts £1972 14/1, of which £655 9/3 was receipts from the battery. The expenditure totalled £lBB7 18/11. and the bank overdraft totalled £206 3/1.

The Kornata Reefs G.M. Co. is to be reconstructed on a basis of a liability of 9d per share.

The return from the Clyde dredge for the week was 3610 z 13dwt of gold.

The Ethel Reefs G.M. Co. crushed 93 tons of ore for a return of bullion valued at £Bl 3/3.

Barrier Reef shares advanced in price during the week, buyers advancing from 7/3 to 8/3. Steam has been got up at the battery, everything- working smoothly.

Good accounts are received regarding developments in the Royal Oak mine. This month 46 tons of ore yielded £ll4 8/10.
