IN HIS LINE.
A needy traveller applied for assistance to. a benevolent lady, who gave him a trifle, and in order to put something more in his way. got him to beat her carpets. The poor man went to work with so much gusto and evident skill that this benefactress could not help asking—“l suppose that is your regular occupation, or perhaps you are a furrier by trade? “No. ma’am—a schoolmaster.'”
