HOW TO MAKE PARACHUTE.

Young folks who make toy parachutes have much fun flying them. This is the way to make one. Take four strings of equal length, cotton twine or coarse thread, and about 18 inches long, tie one string to each corner of a handkerchief or a square piece of tissue paper. ’l'hen tie the ends of the strings together, and put a weight where the strings are tied. If the parachute is made of a handkerchief. have a small stone for a weight: if made of tissue paper, a little stick. Be sure that the strings are not made uneven by tying. The way to fly the parachute is to roll it up loosely in a ball and throw it up hi eh in the air. As it comes down it will open out very prettily. If the parachute is made of tissue paper, and if there is a good breeze, you can let the wind take it off your hand by standing on something high and holding it carefully on the finger-tips. Often it will go as high as the house if the breeze is strong.
