'The other day an undertaker of that city received a summons, to which he speedily responded, only to find that an innocent child, who had been advised to have a funeral for a dead hen. had taken the first step in the arrangement by calling an undertaker. The youngest hopeful had a hen and a brood of chickens. When the mother died he was inconsolable, until a boarder advised the funeral. The little fellow ran to the undertaker’s, who hurriedly harnesses his horse and drove off to book the order. His coming aroused the neighbourhood, who imagined all sorts of fatalities, but when the joke came out even the perspiring undertaker laughed.
