NEW PLYMOUTH.

Dear Bee, June 23. The bowlers in the past have always held a smoke concert at the conclusion of the season, but this year they decided to have a SOCIAL, much to the delight of the ladies. Cards were arranged in the off rooms of the hall and on the stage for those who did not indtdge in dancing, while dancers enjoyed their favourite pastime to their hearts’ content. During the interval songs were rendered by Miss Hayward ami Mr Fookes. and Mr Blyth gave a recitation. The hall was decorated with the club’s colours, and the supper table looked very pretty, in the centre being a miniature bowling green, and the dainty dishes of the season surrounding it made it very pleasing to the eye as well as to the taste. The music was supplied by Mr McKinnon Bain (piano), and Mr Ducker (violin). During the evening the President (Mr R. Cock) presented the trophies won on the green this year. Brash, etc. Last Thursday evening Mrs Ellis gave a most ENJOYABLE EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE in the Masonic Hall. Robe-street, and was ably assisted by her three daughters. The comfortable little hall afforded ample room for the seven tables arranged there and upon which cards were played until 11 o clock. After the room was cleared a dainty supper was handed round in baskets, and after which dancing was indulged in, and the enjoyable evening was brought to a close with everyone singing “Auld Lang Syne’.’ The prizes were won by Miss S.
