Dear Bee, April 17. The tennis finals in connection with the GIRLS’ COLLEGE TOURNAMENT were played on Tuesday afternoon, when there were a large number of visitors present. A very keen interest was taken in the play, and when the final match was won by Miss Joy Ledger there was much applause. Miss Olive Martin won the second prize, which was presented by Col. Pitt. The Campion medal was presented by Mr Littlejohn, the headmaster of the Boys’ College, who, after the match, pinned it on the happy winner amidst more applause. During the afternoon tea was dispensed by the elder pupils. Miss Gibson wore a becoming gown of cream muslin over yellow, large hat to match: Miss Gribben looked well in a black and yellow check costume, black picture hat with yellow roses; Miss Pearce, white pique, green hat trimmed with violets and blue ribbons; Miss Graham, blue grey cambric; Miss Gelately, pink and white print, white hat with pink flowers; Mrs Bain, black, stylish hat; amongst the visitors were:—Mrs Sealy, black; Mrs Smith (Melbourne), navy coat and skirt, hat to match; Mrs Robinson, black finished with yellow; Mrs Perrin, black; Mrs Childs (Motueka Valley) was much admired in a becoming costume of grey and violet striped silk, hat en suite; Mrs Buchanan (Dunedin), black canvas doth over green, smart bonnet to match; Mrs Percy Adams, grey costume: Mrs Sweet, light flowered muslin; Mrs A. Glasgow, light blouse, black skirt, large sailor hat; Miss Elsie Hall, navy coat and skirt, white muslin blouse and red tie, red straw sailor hat, and red parasol; Miss Ledger. who was on horseback, looked very well in a brown tailor made habit and felt hat; Miss Leggatt, white pique; Miss Day also wore white; Miss Blackett}, grass lawn, hat to match, with yellow flowers; Miss Tomlinson, pink cambric, sailor hat; Miss Mabel Harris, white and blue; Miss Trolove, white pique; the Misses Mules (2); Miss Dorothy Bell, white blouse, dark skirt, sailor hat; and many others.

During the week Miss Elsie Hall has given two more PIANOFORTE RECITALS, one on Wednesday evening in the Harmonic Hall, when in spite of very bad weather there was a large audience; and the last one on Friday in the Theatre, which attracted a very large number of people, who showed their appreciation of this very clever artist’s exquisite playing by vociferous applause, to which Miss Hall, with charming good nature, responded, ami played again, much to the delight of all present. At the latter concert songs were sung by Miss Pratt and Mr 11. Kidson, and a violin solo was played by Herr Handke. accompanied by Miss Hall; Miss Melhuish accompanied the songs.
