PAEROA.

Dear Bee, March 9th. The Choir of S. Paul’s had a delightful little social last Friday at the Criterion Theatre to raise funds to pay for the alteration of the choir seats. Mr and Madame Cadzow (who are spending a brief holiday here) kindly sang and played during the evening. The rest of the time was devoted to dancing, in which, as the floor and the music were good, we enjoyed ourselves very much. It is really quite nice to have a little gaiety again after such a very quiet summer. All the ladies’ dresses showed to much greater advantage under the. rays of the new incandescent light which has just been installed in the Theatre. 1 noticed Mrs DeCastro looking very chic in a white muslin over pink silk relieved at the neck and waist with bands of blaek; Miss Forster, white; Miss Jeannie Forster, pink nun’s veiling blouse, black skirt; Miss Orr (Ashburton), yellow silk blouse, white pique skirt; Mrs Forbes, lovely blue muslin; Mrs Sullivan, white striped muslin; Mrs Clare, cream velvet trimmed with yellow Liberty silk; Mrs Brunskill, pink silk blouse, white pique skirt; Mrs John Edwards, pink muslin; Mrs Priston, black satin, blaek chiffon sash; Mrs Edwards, black silk grenadine over green silk; Mrs Bastings, black satin, the bodice trimmed with narrow tartan ribbon; Airs Stevenson, fawn dress; Miss Bastings, cream and green striped delaine: Miss Clarke, striking costume of cornflower-blue trimmed with cream; Mrs Buekby, light muslin-. Miss Aloore, white muslin; Miss McArthur, yellow Liberty silk, her sister wore heliotrope; Miss Paul, cream; Miss Hubbard, fawn muslin; Miss Brunskill, old gold silk blouse, white

skirt; Miss Chalmers, cream nun’s veiling; Mrs Chinnery-Browne, pink blouse, fawn skirt. This week, I am sorry to say, Mr and Mrs Bush have left us, to take up their residence at the Thames, Mr Bush having received promotion to the Bank of New Zealand office there. They have been residents here for a number of years, and will be greatly missed by a large circle of friends.
